The Story Behind the Name

The word "youthquake" was a 1960's cultural movement started in the streets of London by a generation of young adults. The term was coined by Vogue magazine's editor-in-chief Diana Vreeland in 1965. Youthquake involved music and pop culture, and it changed the landscape of the fashion industry. The movement was characterized by looking to youth culture for a source of inspiration, taking dominance away from the English and Parisian couture houses.

Camp Youthquake is about youths with and without disabilities expressing themselves through photography and exploring the world around them on their own terms. It's about shaking up how others think and taking control over youth representations. It's about building self-confidence, learning new skills, and fostering creativity.
